Public Service Announcements (PSAs) are a free community service offered by WRFU-LP 90.3 FM. The service is reserved for non-profit organizations, for publicizing events or services, and for requesting volunteers.

PSAs can be submitted as a digital audio recording or as a written message. Digital audio recorded PSAs are played on air by the autorotation script during unscheduled hours. Written PSAs are read by airshifters on air.

Digital audio recordings can be submitted as a track or tracks on a audio compact disk or as a MP3 file encoded at an average of 96 bits per second or less.

Written PSAs should be composed so that the airshifter will read EXACTLY, word-for-word, what should be read on air. Written PSAs formatted as fliers, posters, etc. will be rejected. Please see the current PSAs, past PSAs, and this linked page for examples of how to compose a PSA. In addition, the submitter can specify a URI if a link is desired when the PSA is posted.

PSAs submitted to WRFU shall meet the following criteria:

  • PSA submitter organization shall be a non-profit organization.
  • PSA shall be one minute long or less.
  • Neither PSA submitter organiztion nor PSA message shall be part of a political campaign.
  • PSA shall not contain a "call-to-action," e.g. "...go to the IMC," "...call now," or "...visit www.wrfu.net for more information."
  • PSA shall not contain any references to prices, e.g. admission fees, suggested donations, etc. However, messages can mention that "a fee will be charged," "donations are suggested," "admission is fee and open to all," etc.
  • PSAs shall be submitted at least three weeks prior to desired broadcasting. Submissions turned in under three weeks will be posted at WRFU's earliest convenience.
  • PSA messages shall be composed in third person and not purport that WRFU is associated with the organization or event.

All PSA submissions should contain the following information:

  • name of person and organization submitting,
  • phone number,
  • email address,
  • first desired date PSA should be broadcasted (add date), and
  • last desired date PSA should be broadcasted (drop date).

WRFU reserves the right to reject or edit the submitted PSA, and the acceptance of a PSA does not guarantee the broadcasting of that PSA. WRFU will contact the submitter of any edits or changes to the submitted PSA before broadcasting.

PSAs should be emailed to rfu-automation@wrfu.net or to the studio at 217.344.2536.
